Confession Time

I think it's time that I owned up and told everyone how bad my healthy eating plan has been over Easter. I didn't actually get any Easter eggs, so none were consumed, but that didn't stop me from eating lots of other unhealthy things.

I had done so well right up until the beginning of the school holidays, and in total had lost two stone three pounds, or thirty one pounds. I didn't seem to struggle over February half-term, so I can only assume that seeing lots of Easter chocolate around the house during these holidays was my downfall.

I've eaten crisps. Before I started my healthy eating plan I used to eat lots of packets of crisps, I love them. I don't think there's a flavour I dislike. I thought I'd miss crisps more than I do actually.


Eleanor spent an afternoon baking so I had to sample what she made. There was caramel shortbread, Easter chocolate Cornflake nests, chocolate chip cookies and buns with icing and chocolate faces. Can you see a chocolate theme here? I tried everything.


We even had an Easter treat of a takeaway. I had a Chicken Bhuna with a few chips and a chapati. Indian food is my very favourite. The only time I get to eat it is when we have a takeaway as no one else in the family will eat it. Our takeaway also does pizzas, burgers, pasta, wraps and kebabs, so there's something for everyone.


I've even been indulging in the odd glass or three of wine. Very naughty.


I have to admit that most of the naughtiness was in the second week, so after putting on a pound at the end of the first week I was expecting to put on several at the end of the second week. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I'd only put on another single pound, so two in total.

It was back to school yesterday so there's no one here during the day to lead me astray now, so I'm back on the straight and narrow.

I'm just hoping that last week's indulgences don't catch up with me at the end of this week.

    Oh dear. It is so difficult to cut back when there is so much in the way of temptation. But, we fear, crisps are definitely to be avoided, the problem being that they are so readily available and make for quick snacks.

  2. It would have been hard to resist those homemade treats of Eleanor's, they look lovely.
    I am a bit of a crisp lover too, always have been.

    Total deprivation is not the answer anyways... a little treat now and again is forgiven.
    Now put on those walking shoes, grab the dog and leash and start walking...

  4. Falling off the wagon happens to us all Jo - I haven't been able to get back on track since our holiday - all the old habits have come back - I'm having a real struggle at the moment - so I know where you are coming from.

  7. You're doing really well.When I lost weight it had to be something that I could carry on with for the rest of my life, so I didn't cut anything out. If I wanted crisps or a piece of cake I had them, just not all the time. Maybe it slowed my progress a bit , but I have kept the weight off for over a year now.

  8. I darent comment because my diet has totally gone to pot. We need to get back on the straight and narrow but are finding it so hard.Best just to put it behind you and get back down to it!

  9. Jo, just try to get back on track without feelings of guilt as these feelings make it much worse. You can't take back what happened but you can look forward, that's always better. I keep my fingers crossed for you.

  10. You'll loose those 2lb in no time Jo. Kids are back at school so get back on the wagon and you'll be fine. Youv'e done fantastic so far.

  11. Hi Jo, oh dear you have a baker in the family too. It's hard to resist homemade goodies, isn't it? But two pounds isn't a lot to put on really when you have lost so much weight already. I always find it hard to get back on the straight and narrow, in fact it's not even ten in the morning and I've just eaten a Twix, oops! Must try harder. Lots of love xxx

  12. You have caught it in time and will be fine.....sadly my alcohol consumption over the holiday led to naughty (and nice!) treats being eaten and naughty pounds creeping back on oops! x

  13. the guilt is the killer so just think well they were tasty and move on. 2lbs is nothing compared to the 31 you have lost. Well done you for losing so much. x

  15. Thank you for all your lovely comments. This week is going well so I'm hoping that I lose the two pounds that I gained over the last two weeks.

    Donna - I've mainly lost the weight through eating smaller portions, cutting out snacking between meals and walking more. As you can see from the post, the eating between meals bit went a bit off track over Easter, but I'm being good again this week.
