I always buy them tightly in bud as they don't take long to open up and if you buy them already flowering, they're just about done with in a day or two.
Mick's never keen on having daffodils in the house as he hates their scent. I know there are lots of people like this and I think it's one of those smells which can seem heavenly to some and absolutely awful to others, I'm just glad that I'm in the first camp, Mick has to lump it!
It's a wonderful time of year for cut flowers and bulbs. Tulips are another of my favourites which are in the shops now, I have an amaryllis which is growing in a pot, albeit quite slowly at present, and I also have some indoor hyacinths which will be flowering before long, and none of these are very expensive to buy. Such a lovely choice of blooms to brighten up our homes.
Your daffodils looks like balls of sunshine, I have not purchased any this month, I have not purchased any cut flowers in January.

ReplyDeleteI love daffs, they are so bright and cheery. I have an amaryllis which is a bit stunted, the smalles one i have every had! I also have some hyacynths, like you say all fairly cheep to buy but so lovely to look at :-)

ReplyDeleteI love daffodils but prefer narcissus. What I really like to see is daffodils in my garden where they last longer. I can’t abide flowers in the house once they start going past their best.

ReplyDeleteYou're daffodils are so sunny in these grey days. I don't like flowers or plants in the house as it makes me feel sad to watch them die. My next door neighbours kitchen window is directly opposite ours and she's already had several vases of daffs in the window this month. Best, Jane x

aw your daffodils are darling. No flowers here, except from the store and I m too cheap to buy them. I enjoy looking at them at the floral section! Also the cats eat them. I have a friend whose home is filled, I mean filled with fresh arrangements ALL THE TIME. It is one of her favorite things and she has the means to do this. I can' t imagine

ReplyDeleteI do have an amaryllis which is growing quickly. My 8 year old granddaughter has one I gave her which she planted with her mum and measures mine when she comes in the hopes that hers is higher than mine. It is so far! LOL
They are so cheering aren't they? I can't wait for my mini ones to open in the garden, not long now.xxx
