Cross Stitch

I've done a little bit of cross stitching in the past but have only ever completed a couple of projects. I'm really itching to give it another go though at the moment.

I bought Cross Stitcher magazine for a bit of inspiration but there isn't anything in there which has taken my fancy so I've got out an old Christmas cross stitching magazine I bought a few years ago. I really liked the look of these Scandinavian Christmas card designs at the time and I still like them now so I've decided to start one of these. They look simple enough but I'm sure with my inexperience it'll take me quite a while.

Still, it's always good to start any Christmas crafting well in advance.

  1. Looking good, I´m sure you will fly through them, much easier when there aren´t lots of colour changes. You could also make them into little tree ornaments. Enjoy xcx

    1. That's a good idea. I'm still very much a novice stitcher though so I think the one colour is good for me.

  2. The ornaments look lovely, just the thing to get you back in the swing. I gave up buying cross stitch magazines years ago, there was never anything in there I wanted to stitch, especially the UK ones which I find very old fashioned now compared to the US ones. Look forward to seeing your finished stitching :-)

    1. Don't expect anything very soon, I think something very easy will take some time! I see lots of lovely designs on blogs or podcasts but being a new stitcher I just don't know where to find them. I'm sure I'll pick it all up in time.

  4. The ornaments are so pretty. A nice small project to get back into the swing of cross stitching. I can't wait to see your finished project.

    1. I don't want to take on any big cross stitch project at the moment with all the other crafty projects I've got on the go so I think these fit the bill nicely.

    1. The last cross stitch project I attempted was the Joyful World stitchalong and it was just too big a project for me being inexperienced, it was daunting. I think starting with some small things is definitely the way to go.

    1. I think stitching is very relaxing. I really like these designs, they're quite striking being in just one colour.

  7. Great fun. They look quite time consuming so it's a good time to start them to get them ready for Christmas 🎅

    1. I don't think you can ever be too organised where Christmas is concerned. Being new to cross stitch, I'm very slow so I definitely need to start early.

  8. Some pretty designs there, Jo. I think it's a good idea to copy a design or do a similar one of your own using the ones in the magazine for inspiration.

    1. That's definitely too advanced for me at the moment but the designs in the magazine are charted so I'll be able to stitch up one of those.

    1. I doubt I'll get many made in time for Christmas, but it's a nice little project that isn't too taxing.
