Pink Flamingo Socks

Another pair of Christmas socks knitted up, the gift drawer is filling up nicely. I'm determined I'm not going to be at the last minute with my Christmas knitting this year.

These socks are for Daniel's girlfriend and they're the first pair of socks I've knitted with contrasting cuffs, heels and toes. I used West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 ply, the main body of the sock is knitted in Pink Flamingo colourway and the cuffs, heels and toes are knitted in the Candyfloss colourway. I like how West Yorkshire Spinners do colours which mix and match with each other.

I used the Vanilla Latte Socks pattern again, a nice simple pattern but not totally plain.

I'm pleased how these socks have turned out and I shall definitely knit contrasting cuffs, heels and toes again.

  3. Vanilla latte socks ... good enough to drink, Jo!!! They are really pretty. All they need now is a perfectly shaped foot and ankle to set them off!

    1. I'm always fascinated by the name the designers give to their patterns. This pattern is so named as "These are vanilla socks with just a tiny kick of caffeine like the coffee milk my grandmother treated me with when I visited her".

I actually saw an advert on TV last night to order your Christmas Tree!

You are also getting organised for Christmas - I do like these socks and the colours are just perfect.

    1. Goodness. I haven't seen any Christmas adverts as yet but I do intend to get all my hand knitted gifts done in good time this year. I've had too many years in the past where I've left everything till the last minute.

  8. They turned out so well! I've not done any contrasting heel/cuff/toe socks yet but I do really like the look of them so will be giving them a go at some point.

    1. I think a Fish Lips Kiss Heel will look good in a contrasting colourway so I'm going to give that a go at some point.

    1. I'm definitely in a sock knitting mood at the moment so I'm taking advantage and getting my Christmas knits done while I'm in the mood. Mick actually said that he liked this pair best out of all the socks I'd knit, not for himself, obviously!

  11. Another great pair of socks! It is good that the different yarns mix and match so well together isn't it.

    1. I love how the yarns mix and match, you can use the same yarn to make lots of pairs of socks which look totally different from each other.

  12. My MIL buys her gifts throughout the year and is always so imaginative. Clearly thinking ahead as you both do pays dividends (and spreads the cost!). I really need to join in 😃

    1. I must admit that as well as making gifts, I often buy things if I see them throughout the year, especially if I see things in a sale. I've already got a few things stashed ready for when December comes round.

    1. I've still got lots more to knit for Christmas so it's a good job I've started when I have, I'd have never got everything done on time otherwise.
