My Clever Girl

If I thought the exams were stressful, it was nothing compared to this week. Eleanor has definitely developed anxiety, which I actually realised when she was having panic attacks during the exams. This week it's manifested itself in the form of nausea. She's had a sick bowl pinned to her side at all times, though she hasn't actually been sick.

As it turns out, she had nothing to worry about, all her hard work has paid off and she's got a place at her university of choice, Nottingham Trent, to study biomedical sciences. She was actually offered a place at her second university choice too.

She was disappointed in her grades when she took her AS Levels last year, even though she worked really hard for them, but she's improved on them this time and come out with a C in Biology and B's in both Psychology and Sociology. We're really proud of her.

Perhaps the sick bowl can be put away again now whilst we have a day of celebrations.

  1. WOO HOO! Congratulations to Eleanor. All the hard work (and anxiety) has paid off. I am as nervous as them waiting for results I think. J sits his A levels in Nov - all he needs is one D grade (!!) (to add to his AS levels from last year as he got uni entrance a year early as did so well in AS) to be able to do the co-joint degree he wants to do. He has conditional entrance from one uni but is waiting to hear from his top choice. Few sit these exams in NZ and they are considered to be very hard here and only a few schools offer the option. Enjoy the last weeks with her.

    2. Congratulations all round. You must be so pleased. There so much more pressure on them now than when we were their age. I went to l'occitane and bought an anti stress roller stick. Smells of lavender and citrus, and my daughter said it helped. Must admit, bought one for me too while I was waiting for their results :)

    3. Thank you. You're right, I don't remember pressure like this when I was at school, though to be fair, the school I went to wasn't the best. I shall have a look at those anti stress sticks, I'm packing her off to uni wish anything I think might help. Ha ha, it is stressful for us parents too, isn't it?
