I ♥ My Pup

I usually keep my knitting projects all together in a shopping bag but they do become rather tangled and I've had a mishap on more than one occasion where knitting has slipped off the needle as I've tried to lift it out. Since I've started watching podcasts, I've seen how other people have lovely project bags which they use to organise each project and keep it safely stored away when it's not being worked on.

Some of the podcasters I watch design their own project bags and they even have Etsy shops where they sell some of the bags they make. There's many different styles but one which appealed to me was made by Sam from Betsy Makes. Last week, she had a shop update and when I saw the I ♥ My Pup project bag, I just had to treat myself.

The bag arrived sooner than expected and it's very well made, I'm thrilled with it. I just love the cute fabric.

It's really roomy, I thought it would be ideal to hold a sock project but a larger project will easily fit. Perhaps I'll just have to use this for the shawl I've got on the go and treat myself to a smaller bag for my socks.

I really enjoy Sam's podcasts, she knits, crochets and sews so she's always got lots of lovely things to show.

All I've got to do now is extricate a project from the shopping bag of doom and then it will be treated to it's own lovely project bag, I just hope the stitches don't slip off the needle in the process.

By the way, I bought the bag myself and haven't been paid or asked to write a review, I just thought you might like to see this lovely bag and hear what I think of it.

  1. Lovely Jo and I keep most things separate, though my bags aren't quite like that one, I do have one DD made me which I love. Take care.

    1. I think I'll have to get Eleanor to run me a couple up, though I should probably have a go myself, I keep saying that I'll have a go at sewing.

  2. What a super cute project bag, great way to safely keep your work in good order, nothing more frustrating than losing your stitches and everything being a muddle. Maybe an addition to your christmas list for some more xcx

    1. It should definitely prevent me tussling with my knitting projects when I'm trying to pull them out of my bag.

  5. When I read the title I thought you had a new puppy! Lol . I try to do one project at a time otherwise I get myself confused (easily done!) I've got a big red bag so I know which one is mine when I'm at a group and put it down somewhere x

    1. Ha ha. No, we're still a one dog household. I always used to work on one project at a time but I'm finding it quite liberating working on more than one at once, it gives me a choice and I can choose which project I feel in the mood for.

  6. I watch the podcasts, they are among the best. You could have a look at Cherry Heart as well. The bags are lovely an even though I make my own I am tempted to buy one.

    1. I do also watch Sandra at Cherry Heart, I joined in with her Spice of Life CAL but I still haven't finished it yet. I think it's a treat to buy things that other people make even if you can make them yourself.

  7. how adorable! 😊 a good tip to stop your stitches dropping off is invest in some foam earplugs, as I discovered the same thing happened when I was knitting socks so I just popped the earplugs on the ends 😊

I've noticed too how some of these Podcasters have so many lovely bags, I do wonder though where they keep all the bags, once they have their projects in them?

    1. Many of them are lucky enough to have craft rooms. I think the great thing about project bags is that each project is all sorted out and kept together which makes it really easy to just pick up whichever you choose to work on knowing everything you need is to hand. That's especially useful if you're heading out the door and you want a project for on the go.

  9. That's lovely! I've not purchased anything off Etsy although I've heard rave reviews about the items sold there so I'm sure that will change sooner rather than later.

  14. The bag looks like a great idea. I use wine bottle corks on the ends of my needles so the stitches cant fall off.

    1. Ha ha, you've obviously got too many projects on the go then. I think these project bags are a great idea, I'm enjoying keeping each project I'm working on separate from the rest, it makes it much easier to keep the things I need for each project together.

  21. Jo thank you for such a lovely review! I feel so touched! I'm hoping to make some DPN holders - both incorporated in the bags and separate, so will update shop soon.
Once again thank you - your post really means such a lot to me.

    1. You're welcome, Sam. I'm thrilled with the bag, it's just what I needed to keep one of my knitting projects all together, I just need a few more bags now for the rest of my projects so I'll be keeping an eye on your shop for updates. I especially like the look of the bags with the incorporated DPN holders so perhaps I'll treat myself to one of those.
