It's Nearly Time

Christmas is only five weeks away now so it will soon be time to send out all the cards and parcels for the swaps I'm taking part in.

The Twelve Days of Christmas Swap which I'm hosting myself should be posted no later than 5th of December. How is everyone doing? I've just about finished with the gift buying now so I've just got to wrap them all up. I've started buying the wrapping paper.

I hope everyone's having fun with this swap and that you're all getting ready to post out the gifts. If anyone's having any problems, please do let me know.

Amy from Love Made My Home published the Christmas Card Swap 2015 partners at the beginning of the week but unfortunately, I've been paired with someone who has stopped writing her blog so it doesn't look like she's going to take part in the swap now. I'm still hoping that she'll answer the comment I left on her blog though, we'll see.

I've bought most of the gifts for the #stitchingsanta Blog Christmas Gift Swap over on Sheila's Sewchet blog. I'm knitting furiously now to finish what I'm making to add to the parcel.

I'm having lots of fun with the swaps I'm taking part in, I hope you are too.

  1. Dear Jo
I am involved with two swaps and am almost ready to wrap and post. One is your Twelve Days of Christmas swap, which I have really enjoyed being part of. Busy, busy!

    1. It's such a busy time of year from the middle of November through to Christmas but it's so exciting too. I'm really pleased you've enjoyed the Twelve Days of Christmas swap, I can't wait to see what everyone sends and receives.

    1. I think we must all be around the same stage at the moment, though I know a couple of people have already sent theirs off, they're so organised.

  3. Wow, I can't believe you're taking part in three swaps! They are fun, aren't they? Love the chequerboard stitch pattern in your last photo - little snippets like this make it all the more exciting and I can't wait to read all the blog posts about the swap afterwards:)

    1. I've only ever taken part in a card swap before so I'm really enjoying these gift swaps. They're so much fun. As well as these swaps, I'm also doing a Twelve Days of Christmas swap with my blogging buddy, Lisa from Jumble and Jelly, so I really have got quite a bit on my plate this year, but I do love it. I'm really looking forward to all the blog posts about the swaps afterwards too.

    1. That's great news. I'm starting to feel Christmassy now too. I should be able to get my knitting finished in time, I'm doing a bit each night when I get a bit of spare time.

  5. My swap partner has received her box and says she's safely stored it and that mine was mailed to me last Saturday, so we're doing well.

    1. Great stuff. You're both so organised but it's much better to be that way than rushing about at the last minute. It looks like the swap's going to be a huge success.

  6. Jo, I am so sorry, I hadn't realised about the swap and blog situation, can you e-mail me and I would love to swap with you - if you want to swap with me that is! My 12 days parcel is - as of today - all ready to go and my partner and I have a agreed a posting date so it will soon be heading off! Very exciting isn't it. Please do get in touch! xx

    1. There's nothing at all to be sorry for, these things happen. I've left a comment on my swap partner's blog so I'll see if she gets it over the weekend, she may still want to take part in the swap. That's a very good idea agreeing a posting date with your swap partner, then you can be prepared for the parcel being delivered. It's so exciting.

  7. Jo, 'only' five weeks' away is a very long time to me! Why all this rush into Christmas? We are all just making work for ourselves. It's just for one day. I won't be even thinking about buying presents until at least another week or two. I've bought some cards simply because I was in a shop (for something else) and saw some there, and I bought stamps in a PO just because I'd gone in for cash, but I am certainly not doing much towards Christmas yet. By Christmas we will all be frazzled, doing all this shopping, card-writing, cleaning, cooking, present wrapping ... it's totally mad to exert so much energy on one day in the year. I love Christmas Day but I don't work myself silly for it. Maybe I'm just on my own on this! Almost every blog I look at these days has Christmas mentioned, those making cards, those knitting (I can just about hear the clack-clack of the needles!), those making their own mincemeat (don't know why when there is mincemeat already in jars to buy in the shops), and so forth. I'm by no means a Mrs Scrooge, but I do think we should start to get things in proportion.

    1. Eeek...I was only talking about the swaps I'm taking part in. Well...consider me well and truly told! We have to organise swaps to be sent early because some participants are from overseas so the parcels have to be sent early. Mick is on holiday for the best part of a fortnight over Christmas so for us, our celebrations begin before the big day and we string them out for as long as we can, we love Christmas. As for people making their own mincemeat, I think that's lovely and if we ate mince pies I'd love to give that a go. Whatever makes people happy can only be good in my book.

    1. I've only taken part in Amy's card swap before and a Twelve Days of Christmas swap that Lisa and I arranged between ourselves but I've really enjoyed taking part in these other swaps this year.

  9. I was a bit flummoxed by that comment above, but everyone to their own. My parcel has one more thing and then it's ready to go off to Jo2, as you are Jo1. I've had lots of fun doing this and am now thinking of overseas Xmas cards too. I've loved meeting someone new and we'll definitely exchange emails occasionally to keep up with each others news. Hope you are having a great weekend and take care.

    1. I think swaps are a great way to make new blog friends, an extra bonus of taking part. It's exciting getting the parcels ready to send on their way, and the great thing about the Twelve Days of Christmas swap is that the enjoyment of the parcel will last right the way through Christmas for twelve whole days.

  10. Well done on being so organised, Jo. Unlike the commenter above, I much prefer starting Christmas preparations early. Handmade things need to be started as early as possible in my book!

    1. I agree. I'm not gifting anything handmade this year, except for in the swap, because I've been busy with other things throughout the year. It takes a lot of time to get handmade things ready to gift.

  12. How can I already feel behind with my Christmas shopping when it isn't even Thanksgiving here yet?! I'm starting to feel stressed, the more people tell me they've already gotten a huge head start.

  13. All of a sudden we realise that Christmas really is just around the corner ... a lovely time of year, especially so for the younger children.

Hope your weekend has gone well.

  14. Hi Jo! I'm the wayward blogger with whom you've been paired to swap a Christmas card via Amy's place -- terrible timing on my part to do a bloggy-runner. ;) I've sent you an email using the address that you left in your comment....hope to talk to you soon! mel xo

    1. Fantastic! Glad you're still going to take part in the card swap, I was hoping that you might pick up the comment I left over the weekend. I've received your email and have answered with my address details.

  15. I haven't heard back from my swap partner. She's commented on one of my posts so I know she's visited by blog but after two emails requesting her address I've heard nothing...
Do you know if anyone else's partner is MIA, that I can be partnered with...? Failing that I get to keep all of the gifts I've purchased :O)

    1. I've just dropped your blog partner an email so I'm hopeful that we'll hear something back soon. I know some other participants have only just heard from their partners so I'm not giving up hope yet. Please let me know if you hear anything from her before I do.
