I had a lovely evening on Saturday, I went to watch Eleanor and the rest of her drama company in a production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at The Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds.
They do a big production every November and this year was one of my favourite musicals. Eleanor was cast as Asher, one of the brothers, though she had to miss opening night on Thursday as she was away on her school trip in London, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was back for the Friday and Saturday performances though, and they went very well.
The youth theatre which Eleanor belongs to have a company made up of children of all ages. You could see that they all had a great time on stage and the show was excellent, extremely professional.
It's quite a hectic schedule leading up to the show as there's lots of additional rehearsals, but they've now broken up for Christmas so they can have a well earned rest.
Eleanor has been busy hasn't she, and good to see that you enjoyed the show. Flighty xx
ReplyDeleteIt's always a busy time of year for Eleanor but it's been especially busy this year with her trip to London too. She does like to be kept busy though so it's all good.
DeleteSounds like a great evening for everyone, and well done to Eleanor! Atleast she can wind down now and enjoy the run up to Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHope all well, and hope Daniel is enjoying uni. He'll soon be home for the hols!
Gill xx
It's mocks for Eleanor after Christmas so I expect she'll use the spare time she has for revision. Daniel finishes his first term on Friday, though he's staying behind in York for a while.
DeleteI love Joseph - I'm glad you and Eleanor enjoyed the show.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great show, I've seen it so many times and I never tire of it.
DeleteI just saw an am dram production of Joseph, it is such a great show isn't it. I am sure that Eleanor must have loved being part of it! xx
ReplyDeleteIt's a fabulous show, I love it. Eleanor loves performing in any show, but she loves the music in Joseph.
DeleteIt is a great play and I'm sure Eleanor enjoyed performing as much as you did watching.
ReplyDeleteHas Winter arrived there yet?
It certainly has here. Have a great week.
Susan x
Eleanor did enjoy performing, I think she was born for the stage. The weather isn't too bad here yet, though I think some cold weather may be on the way later in the week.
DeleteYou must be so proud of your daughter. Did you take a lot of photos? I have never seen this play but I have friends that say it's wonderful! I have actually never been to the Theater, I shall make it a point... I think I'm missing out by not going!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have been keeping well, Much love, Tammy
I'm extremely proud of Eleanor, she tries her best in what she does and that makes me very proud of her. I didn't take any photos. Photography and recording isn't allowed in theatres unfortunately. You really should make a point of booking to see a show, I know you'd love it.
DeleteAwww what a shame that you couldn't get photos! But at least you experienced it! Can you buy tapings of the shows?
DeleteTammy
The shows aren't taped, so it's a real one off. It's such a shame really as it would be great to keep to look back on in the future.
DeleteJoseph is a wonderful show - to be able to watch Eleanor in it must have made it all the more special. I loved watching KL's boyfriend in Schindler-The Musical earlier this year.
ReplyDeleteI love Joseph anyway, but you're right, it does make it more special when Eleanor's performing in a show. I remember you going to see KL's boyfriend in Schindler-The Musical, that must have been a wonderful experience, especially as the show itself had been written by the students. I hope KL's settled in to uni life well.
DeleteI know Joseph is a show that been around for years - but it's still one of my favourites! It sounds as if Eleanor ( and the rest of the cast) had a great time working on it. Jx
ReplyDeleteIt has been around years. It's the youth theatre's twentieth anniversary this year and Joseph was the very first production they staged twenty years ago, so it was quite special that it was their production again this year. It's such a feel good show that they all had a great time.
DeleteI remember when our son used to play tunes from Joseph on his keyboard and now his son is doing the same thing singing and playing with his Dad! I'm sure Eleanor and the youth theatre had a lot of fun and you enjoyed the performance because she was doing something she loves. Our grandson is having a rest from doing a pantomime this Christmas. He's just changed schools to the one where the director of music is involved with his Sunday afternoon theatre school. He's settling in and getting involved with stage managing and taking part in something for next year, doing some film making, singing in a boy band and generally enjoying school days!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your grandson will enjoy his new school with all that going on. It's great when they've got a hobby they really enjoy.
DeleteGlad all went well for Eleanor in both London and the musical and that you enjoyed the show. You must be so proud of her and the talent she has. Take care.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a great week for Eleanor with everything going on. We're so proud of her. I wouldn't dare stand on stage, never mind act and sing, but she loves it.
DeleteI remember seeing Joseph when I was at uni in the 70s and have seen it a lot of times since then. It's definitely a great show - for both audience and company! :o)
ReplyDeleteI think it's one of those shows which will just keep going on and on, it's such a great show. I've lost count how many times I've seen it now, but I still love it.
DeleteHow wonderful. I love Joseph; my husband and I have frequently watched the Donny Osmond version which we have on DVD. The music is great. Eleanor sounds like a very well-rounded young lady and you have so much to be proud of.
ReplyDeleteThank you, we're so proud of her. I had the Donny Osmond version on video, but we don't have a video recorder any more so I can't watch it now. I thought Donny was great in it.
DeleteLondon and then in a show she must be ready for the rest! It is so lovely that she is enjoying what she does, glad you enjoyed your evening.
ReplyDeleteEleanor was quite tired when Sunday came, but she soon bounces back again. I love going to see shows but it's even more special when Eleanor's performing.
DeleteGlad the show went well and hope Eleanor's voice returned in time.
ReplyDeleteEleanor's voice came back in the nick of time, thank goodness. I'm sure the honey and lemon drinks helped.
DeleteWow. It sounds like the production was something to see! I vividly remember the soundtrack to this particular musical as we had a copy of it on tape in the car and to this day I can still sing most of it! It goes to show how much we retain in our formative years!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,

We really enjoyed it. The songs are ones you tend to remember, it's a real feel good show.
DeleteGlad you enjoyed it Jo. I love that musical. X
ReplyDeleteIt's a great musical. I'm sure it's one which most people enjoy.
DeleteWhat a great production to be involved in. It must have been brilliant to watch. What a proud mum you must be, seeing your daughter perform on stage. x
ReplyDeleteIt really doesn't matter how many times I see Eleanor perform on stage, I'm still so proud of her each time. It was a great production, we enjoyed watching it as much as Eleanor enjoyed performing in it.
DeleteA week to remember for sure. Glad to hear all went well and everyone enjoyed the show.
ReplyDeleteLisa x
Definitely a week to remember. Eleanor had a fantastic time in London and a wonderful time performing and we enjoyed watching the show.
