I used Sirdar Supersoft Aran in Kingfisher, a colour which Eleanor chose herself. It took less than half a ball so there's plenty left for another pair.

I actually got a bit stuck on the pattern, it had abbreviations which I hadn't come across before, T4Bpk and T4Fpk, but I found their meanings after doing a search online. It's not that the stitches are hard, I think if you know how to knit and purl you're well away, it's just learning the meanings of all the terms.

Eleanor's pleased with them and I might even knit a pair for myself seeing as I have plenty of yarn left over.

ReplyDeleteEleanor's friends are always complimentary about the things I knit for her, I don't think any of them have parents who knit so they'd probably quite like it if I knit them some.

ReplyDeleteI love the colour too, it's one of Eleanor's favourites. I was surprised by how much yarn I had left, I might even get three pairs out of the one ball.

ReplyDeleteThey're great for the weather we've got now, a bit of a chill but not too cold. I think she'll need fingers in her gloves when the very cold weather hits.

ReplyDeleteI much prefer knitting smaller items, ones which don't take long to finish, rather than a bigger project. I tend to get bored quite easily when knitting. Eleanor's really happy with them.
DeleteJo they are so cute and the colour is perfect. I started knitting some boot cuffs for myself last night. I'll post the pattern later this week. Really easy cables but looks amazingly hard! I think I might need them to drive to work x
ReplyDeleteThese are perfect for this type of weather, they keep the chill out but I think something a bit more substantial will be needed when it gets colder. The boot cuffs sound great. I haven't had a lot of practice with cables.

DeleteLovely colour and as owls are very popular the mitts look very effective with the button eyes.

ReplyDeleteI love owls too and they're so popular at the moment. Just beware if you're following the pattern from Simply Knitting, it had some mistakes in it. If you follow the link in my post, it gives you the corrected pattern.

DeleteHi Jo they look great!! Glad you found the correct pattern link, I think I left that on mine as well, as there were mistakes in the magazine. Mikayla wears hers. She has since cast her eyes on an owl fair isle pair, in a book my Mum sent me, would be a good challenge!
