I now need to put a border on it, but that can wait until I get back from my holidays, I'm not going to start it before I go. I haven't decided yet what I'm going to border it with, just something simple I think.

It's so squishy and soft that I'm going to enjoy using it when the cooler weather arrives, it should keep me nice and warm.

It's been a relaxing project to work on, crocheting just one square each day. I've joined the squares and sewn the ends in as I've gone along, so there's no making up to do at the end, my worst bit of any project.
I'll be back with more photo's when it's totally finished.

DeleteIt's lovely Jo and a great idea of sewing together as you go along and tying in the ends, a job I hate with a passion! I know its lovely and warm now but those autumn days are just waiting around the corner.
ReplyDeleteThe squares were crocheted together as I went along, a method I haven't used before, but it does save so much time. We're past the longest day now so it's all downhill from here.

It's certainly colourful, some of the colours really pop. It's definitely a winter blanket, it's so warm.
DeleteIt looks lovely and I think the one-a-day project is a great idea. I really should give it a try. I recognize some of those colors, I'm thinking you used Stylecraft for this?
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting and leaving a comment. I did use Stylecraft, such a great yarn. I'm quite surprised actually how soft it is for an acrylic yarn, and it's only really squeaky if it's exceptionally warm.

I don't sew if I don't have to, so I crocheted the squares together as I went along. It's saved such a lot of work at the end. We go away next week, I can't wait.

ReplyDeleteThank you. I had this yarn bought as a Christmas present so I didn't choose it myself, but I'm pleased with how the colours work together. There's some colours which really pop and stand out.
DeleteA simple dark border of navy or maroon would be classy. It looks lovely and you may be the only person who is wanting the winter to come!
ReplyDeleteI think it really needs a simple border, nothing too flashy, though I haven't even thought about colours yet. I'll pass on the winter weather for a while yet though, summer's only just arrived and I'd like it to hang around, at least for my holiday.

ReplyDeleteIt's such a snuggly blanket that I'm sure it will be well used in winter. I'm really pleased with the yarn, it's not expensive yet it's so soft.

DeleteThe blanket looks lovely. You have inspired me to make one similar as a picnic blanket for my daughter and grandaughter. I have undertaken to knit one innocent drinks 'big knit' hat a day this year - it is such a good idea, one hat or one square only takes a few minutes - I often do mine over breakfast!! Enjoy your holiday. Are you now going to make a christmas blanket using the 'one a day' method??
ReplyDeleteIt would work out lovely as a picnic blanket, I'm sure your daughter and grandaughter would love it. I keep saying that I'll knit some hats for Innocent, but I haven't got round to it yet, perhaps this year. A Christmas blanket would be a great idea, but I've already got a ripple blanket on the go for Daniel and I've got Eleanor nagging that she wants one too so I think I've got my work cut out at the moment.

ReplyDeleteIt's been a really simple project, one which most people could manage. A blanket can be a big undertaking, but one square each day is manageable, and it makes it quite relaxing to do.
