Mick and I had a trip in to Leeds this morning. I really needed to get on with some Christmas shopping, and there were a few things which I could only get from Leeds, so it was needs must. It was busy, but not quite as bad as I'd expected. Saturdays in Leeds in the run up to Christmas can be horrendous.
It's rare that I'm in Leeds now that I don't work there, so I took advantage and made my way to Kirkgate Market to visit the flower stalls. I picked up this lovely Christmas arrangement made up of red carnations, white chrysanthemums and gypsophila for just £2.50. I think they all go well together.
I do like white chrysanthemums, and earlier last month, treated myself to a bunch of them, also for £2.50. They lasted for ages.
I wonder what flowers I'll choose to have in the house over Christmas.
Lovely! I've got some white chrysanthemum seeds to grow next year. Flighty xx
ReplyDeleteI'm very fond of white flowers, understated is sometimes more.
DeleteRed and white together always look good.
ReplyDeleteI saw be 'borrowing' from holly from the overgrown patch just down the road from us and maybe a poinsettia will make it's way into the home too.

I wish we had an overgrown patch of holly which I could borrow. I'll probably have a poinsettia too, such Christmassy plants.
DeleteI love chrysanths - they are such good value and, as you say, they last for ages. I often buy them for my Mum - she displays them on her hall table and they seem to last forever.
ReplyDeleteI think my favourites are the yellow ones, such bright, sunny flowers.
DeleteI'm glad Leeds wasn't too horrendous! We avoid it at this time of year as it's tricky with the kids and the buggy. You seem to have such good fortune with your bargain flowers! I don't usually buy many in December but I do like to have two or three poinsettias around the house, they are so festive and pretty. x
ReplyDeleteI had to go in to Leeds for a few things otherwise I'd have avoided it too. It's very rare I ever go in to Leeds these days. I shall make sure there's a poinsettia in the house over Christmas, as you say, they're so festive.
DeleteYour flowers look pretty. Glad to hear that your Christmas shopping trip went well. I've avoided Worcester this weekend - it's the weekend of the Victorian Christmas fayre. Absolutely lovely but always jammed with visitors. I wasn't in the mood to be pushed and shoved! Jx
ReplyDeleteI would have avoided Leeds given half the chance. I hate all the jostling when places are packed.
DeleteHello Jo! How have you been? I'm back from England and slowly starting to feel myself. I've missed visiting all of the awesome blogs...
ReplyDeleteI love the flowers, they are gorgeous...
Glad to hear you had a good time in England, and that you had a safe return journey. It's hard getting back in the swing of things when you've been away, but I'm sure that there's plenty to bring you back down to Earth with Christmas on the way.
DeleteYour flowers are lovely. Flowers seem to make any room look just a little be brighter. I still need to do my shopping, glad your shopping trip was a success.
ReplyDeleteFlowers really do cheer me up, I love them. I've still got plenty more shopping to do, but I've made a good start. I hope you manage to get yours done soon.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful flowers! I usually get a Poinsettia. I just got back from my Mexican cruise and wow, did I ever have a good time meeting people and dancing.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure a poinsettia will appear in my house before Christmas. Glad you enjoyed your cruise.
DeleteGorgeous flowers Jo!And brave to face Leeds so near to Christmas, although better then than the weekend before!
ReplyDeleteHope all well with Archie, and your family of course!
Gill xx
I thought that too, we were dashing about in Leeds very close to Christmas last year and I vowed I'd never do it again. Archie's very well, thank you for asking. He's back to his usual self, thank goodness.
