I'm not ready for Autumn, though it seems to have hit with a gust, it's been so windy over the weekend. I thought I would hang on to summer just a little bit longer with this lovely pink mixed bunch, £3.00 from the local supermarket.
I've popped them in the vase which I got as a present from Daniel for my birthday at the beginning of September.
He bought it when we visited the craft fair at Elsecar Heritage Centre. Being hand painted, he knew I'd love it, and he was right.
I did my usual prowl of the reduced section a few weeks ago and came home with this mixed bunch for £1.85. Very similar flowers to those included in my vase at the moment, but in a different colour scheme.
My best bargain of the month were these gladioli. They're not a colour I'd ordinarily choose but I couldn't leave them in the shop when they were only 30p, and I quite liked the colour once they were in full bloom.
I just need to come across a few more bargains like that, though I don't do bad really.
Really pretty! Hope that Daniel enjoyed taking a look round York Uni at the weekend. I can't get over how fast the years from GCSE modules to A2 exams seem to go...! Jx
ReplyDeleteWe had a good day at York Uni, Daniel was impressed. It isn't long now before he's got to get his application in.
DeleteVery pretty. I love fresh flowers. I'm just waiting for the chrysanthemums to come into the shops.
ReplyDeleteLove from Mum

It won't be long until the Chrysanthemums are in the shops now. Mick's uncle grows them and often brings some round for me.
DeleteLove the flowers especially the gladioli. Have a great week.

I didn't used to like Gladioli but I've changed my mind about them, they're great flowers for a vase.
DeleteI am always amazed by your fresh flower bargains! We have an embargo on fresh flowers this month as we are saving our pennies, but I'd buy some gladioli for 30p, that's brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI amaze myself by what I manage to pick up. I must be in the right place at the right time.
DeleteMaybe a bunch of flowers would cheer up my day. I'm feeling a bit down today.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that. Hope you're feeling a bit better today, but if not, treat yourself to a bunch of flowers, they do wonders to cheer you up.
DeleteThe gladiloi are really lovely.
ReplyDeleteAs is the vase from Daniel, what a thoughtful present.

I love the vase. I was surprised when I opened it on my birthday because I hadn't mentioned anything about liking it at the craft fair, Daniel just saw it and thought that I would like it.
DeleteVery pretty flowers and I love the vase - what a lovely present, Helen x
ReplyDeleteIt made it all the more special because I hadn't told Daniel what I would like for my birthday, he just saw the vase and made his own choice. I love it.
DeleteThe vase is lovely and isnt it great that Daniel knew you would like it? I do like to have flowers about the house, makes a house feel a home. I wouldnt pay a lot of money though, but your 30p ones are a real bargain!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the mention of my giveaway too X
I challenged myself to have flowers in the house right the way through the year, and I've so far succeeded. It will be interesting at the end of the year to work out how much it's cost me.
DeleteOh, I love your flower posts Jo, they make me soooooo happy!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful displays.

Flowers can really lift the spirits. I love having them around the house.
DeleteSuch pretty cut flowers. I do love gladiola's, they are one of my favorites...30p is a Bargain! A really lovely vase as well, it is always nice when something is lovingly hand painted.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day today (enjoy the flowers!)

I'm fascinated with hand painted glass, it gives such a lovely effect.
DeleteWhat lovely flowers - the gladioli have a really pretty two-tone effect!

The Gladioli looked really lovely when they were in full bloom, much nicer than I would have guessed.
DeleteThose gladioli are glorious, gladdening in fact!
ReplyDeleteThey're such blousy flowers, but they give a great display.
